It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with YSL Niki Bags. I love their classic design, elegant and sophisticated look, and the fact that they can be easily dressed up or down. And as it turns out, I’m not the only one. It seems like everyone I know has one. But I just bought my first one recently, and there was one big problem: it was a fake.
Now don’t get me wrong; it looks great. The craftsmanship is pretty good, and the color and material is spot on. The problem is that I paid a premium price for a designer label, and it’s not the real deal. I just feel a little bit duped.
But I’m not going to let this bring me down. I’m still in love with the design, and I’m going to make the most of it. Since I know it’s a fake, I’m not going to be precious; I’m going to take it out and let it get a bit of wear and tear that I wouldn’t be comfortable with if it were an authentic piece.
And in fact, this plan may even have a silver lining. As it turns out, real YSL Niki Bags cost quite a bit more than I originally paid. So, instead of feeling ripped off, I’m seeing my fake bag as a good investment! Who knows, maybe I’ll even make a little bit of a profit if I ever want to sell it.
Plus, now I’m even more inclined to save up and buy the real deal. I know that I’ll get so much more out of it in the end. An authentic Niki will never go out of style, fake bags and it will hold up to the wear and tear much better.
With that in mind, I’m going to start keeping a close eye on the prices of the real deal. I’m determined to not settle for anything less than a genuine YSL Niki Bag. Fake or not, I’m still happy with the bag I have now, but I can’t help but feel like I have something much better coming in my future.
Now that I’ve got my Niki, I’m on the lookout for other designer pieces. I’m sure I’ll find the real versions of those too, and when I do I know my wardrobe will be taken to a whole new level of sophistication. I’ll be matching my bag with the hottest trends and never worry about where it came from – just like all of my friends do.
Going forward, I’m a lot more aware of the designer knock-offs saturating the market these days. It’s really hard to tell the difference, but with a bit of homework (agoogling!) it is possible to tell. It’s all about the little details – hardware, colours, materials, etc. I’m now going into stores and sizing them up as if I’m Sherlock Holmes – it’s a must.
I’m just grateful I have my fake YSL Niki Bag so I can learn and see the differences first-hand. I’m sure when I do upgrade to an authentic model, I’ll be feeling like it’s the best investment I’ve ever made!
Now that I’m part of the designer club, I’m going to be scouting out the online stores and estate sales for more price-friendly deals. I’m also going to be monitoring online marketplaces for replica bags that have little signs of wear and tear or that have been in storage for some time.
With a pinch of luck, I’ll soon be the proud owner of a genuine YSL Niki Bag – and I won’t be tricked into buying another fake one ever again!
