First, you’ll need three tea replica bags. Throw them into a bowl of warm water for a couple of minutes, just enough time for them to get rehydrated. Take the wet tea replica bags out of the bowl and tap off any excess water. That’s step one completed!
Next, cut each tea bag down the middle. Remove the tea leaves of the tea bag (unless you want to turn your new nails into tea-scented spa treatments – which is totally up to you!). Do the same for all three of them. The tea bags should be damp, but not wet, which is very important – too wet and the nail won’t stick together, too dry and it won’t fold properly.
Now, take a knife and cut the paper down the middle in a rectangle. Smoothen the edges by applying pressure with the knife. This will help to make your nails look nicer. Next, make a pocket in the paper about 2-3 cm wide. This will serve as the base of your nail.
Then, form the nail itself. Take two of the tea bags and put them together in a vertical line – one below the other. Then fold the top one in half, so that it meets the bottom tea bag in the middle. Once you’ve done that, place the nail into the pocket, making sure it fits tightly. You’ve just created your first fake nail!
Now, it’s time to paint the nail. You can use regular nail polish, or you can get creative with it! For example, if you have some glitter, you can use it to give your fake nail a sparkly, glamorous look. Just make sure the polish is applied evenly.
Once you’re done painting the nail, you’re ready to glue it to your natural nail. Use a non-toxic adhesive, such as Nailene or Eylure, to keep your nail securely in place. Once it’s firmly glued, hold it in place for a minute or two. Then, voila! You’ve just made yourself a beautiful, custom-made, fake nail!
From here you can repeat the same steps for each of your other nails. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can even use different materials and shapes for each of them. You could use ribbon for lacey nails, or buttons for cute nails. The possibilities are endless!
Once you’ve made all your nails, you can enjoy showing them off. Whether you’re strutting down the catwalk or posing for a selfie, your custom-made nails will be the envy of all your friends. And you’ll be able to proudly say that you made them with your own two hands!
