It was a year ago when I first started researching about fake bags. I had heard horror stories of people buying knock-off bags only to find out they had been swindled. It was an awful feeling knowing I could be taken advantage of by a shifty merchant. So I decided to take the time to learn how to identify the real from the fake.
It was not easy. The amount of research and dedication I put into it was immense. I watched endless tutorials and looked at so many pictures that my eyes hurt. Finally, I felt prepared and confident to make that purchase.
When I got to the store, I was taken aback by the sheer number of bags I saw that could have been fake. All the details I had learned began to flood my mind. I looked at the zipper, the seams, the leather and all the other parts I had read about. That’s when I found it. A real, genuine bag with all the signs of authenticity.
From that point onwards, I could confidently purchase replica bags knowing that I was not being swindled. The money I saved was a huge bonus, and I realized that the time and energy spent in learning how to avoid fake bags was worth it!
Friends of mine who were not quite so knowledgeable about discriminating the real bags from the fake often got duped when they went shopping. I’ve actually spent some time teaching them what I learned so they don’t end up with pieces of garbage.
That knowledge has proven invaluable more than once. Even in places where I thought I was not at risk for buying a fake, I still examined the bags with the same scrutiny. I almost got taken once, but I remembered what to look for and was able to spot the subtle differences.
It was frustrating to put in so much effort and research just to learn how to avoid buying a fake. But looking back it was worth it every time I saved myself from getting ripped-off!
Four sections of 5 paragraphs:
One: I went beyond the basics when I did my research. I also looked into multiple brands and learned what their typical design features were. There were small things, like the specific type of leather used and the threading detail, that was unique to each brand. Having this knowledge came in handy more than once.
Two: I also found out about the countries where counterfeiters were most active and tended to volunteer information to anyone who asked. I still remember when I first warned a friend of mine that the guy selling purses in the subway might not be on the up and up. That same day, he paid half of what I did for a bag of worse quality!
Three: It’s not just purchasing that I’ve found my knowledge to be useful for. I’ve used it when selling replica bags too. Because you can’t trust everyone, I always examine the bags and look for proof that they are authentic before showing them to potential buyers. After a while it all becomes second nature, and you can spot fakes a mile away!
Four: Understanding how to spot a fake doesn’t just apply to bags either. Some of the same principles can be used for clothing and accessories. For example, if the logo in the product looks off, or the material doesn’t feel right, that can be an indication that what you’re looking at is a counterfeit.
At the end of the day, learning about what to look for when it comes to fake bags has been a financial lifesaver for me. I’m now able to confidently purchase bags knowing that I’m getting the real deal and not being taken advantaged of. I’m also able to share my knowledge with friends and help save them money. It’s absolutely worth it!
